Isis and Set: A Comparison Egyptian Mythology differentiated itself from other kinds of mythology.The egyptians used mythology to get closer with the land and earth. The men and women were always created equal so no one sex held more power than the other.There was no such thing as discrimination.

Her name represent the “queen of the throne”. She married her brother,Osiris who was later murdered by their brother Set.Isis had numerous nicknames such as the Knot of Isis,Buckle of Isis and the Blood of Isis.Her symbol was the tiet of the tyet which meant the welfare of life.She was very significant to the egyptian culture Set often referred as Seth,Setekh,Sut,Sutekh,Sety.In the beginning Set was originally the sky lord and the lord of the desert.He was married to Nephthys(his sister) which he was later unfaithful to.He had battle with Horus to overtake the throne of egypt.He was the benefactor of lower egypt while Horus ruled the upper egypt.Set had attempted to murder Horus,but he survived and had him exiled to the desert forever for his wrong doing.After Horus voiced his concerns to Isis she came up with a plan.Using her power,Isis turned into a beautiful woman with tears running down her face . When she left him to go and gather herbs to bring back her husband, Set heard of his brothers return and he went to go search for the body. He had gotten Nephthys to tell his whereabouts .When he found his body he dismembered it and spread the remains on the land.Isis then discovered Osiris's body in pieces and with the help of Nephthys she found all of the piece except for his penis in which was thrown into the river and consumed by a fish .After all of that he was still able to be revived by Isis..Once alive Isis turned into a kite and flew around him and drew the seed from his body into her own,which she became pregnant with their son
