How To Fight In Iraq

Improved Essays
Since the war ended in Iraq, many Isis fighters have taken over some cities in Iraq. Recently the city of Mosul was overtaken. Multiple nations have joined to retake the city of Mosul. Joining to help the local people are approximately 30,000 pro-government troops, with the main assault being about 4000 Kurdish Peshmerga militia. Planes from the US-led coalition are providing air support. United States special operations personnel are advising the local troops on the ground. Expected to join in the coming days is the Elite Iraqi counterterrorism forces.

There are estimated 4000-8000 Islamic state fighters that are defending the city. In the last few days, troops were around one kilometer away from the nearby city of Hamdaniyah.

We will have to continue to guide and help train the local population. Since over taking Sadaam Hussein and winning the war in Iraq, the US has not left. We will continue to keep boots on the ground and attempt to train that Army to be like ours. Personally, I have never agreed with this. Why show another country how we fight, just in case we have to go back and fight them again. The city of Mosul is the oil rich city in the Northern Province. It is also the second largest city in Iraq. Isis fighters overtook Mosul in 2014 and have continued to make a staple out of claiming the city as an Islamic stronghold. Controlling the oil will give Isis endless amounts of money to back their fight. The problem with Mosul is since it is the second largest city, there are millions of innocent people that will have to flee or be in the line of fire during this battle. The ones who flee will have to flee to Syria and their homes will be destroyed. With every war, there are always innocents who have to suffer and with this battle, it is innocents that should not be put in the middle of it. Reports have been that over 5000 people have fled to Syria with another thousand waiting at the borders. This does not include the thousand that will be in safe camps set up by friendly forces around the …show more content…
Women and children are normally, from what I experienced while there, tend to be the ones who get hurt the most. This battle will be no different from any other battle in Iraq. Long before the invasion of Iraq in 2013, their country was always in Civil War. The different tribes such as the Shiites and Sunni tribes have been fighting each other for centuries. Along with neighboring countries like Turkey and Syria having fighters in the mix as well. We may have won the war and relieved the country from Sadaam Hussein, but I do not think we will ever stop all the fighting. There will always be civilian people in the crossfire and turmoil of fighting in

Well, I guess I'll just sit here and see how the next four years play out. I think it's pretty safe to say that AHA is gone and that Trump will nominate at least one new SC judge. The terrorist group known as ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq) was able to come into being due to the weakness of the surrounding Middle eastern countries along with U.S. hesitancy has created a group with violent plans to bring the world to islam, with fear tactics such as the Paris attacks. They have grown as a threat “as sophisticated and well funded as any group that we have seen” (Coll) “Frankly [it’s] embarrassing for the world’s superpower” says Juan Zarate of CBS Security Analyst “to say that’s where we are three plus almost four years after this conflict has begun” (Kaplan). For a while now, we have been conducting airstrikes on ISIS and have created programs to train Syrian rebels, but all of our mediocre attempts to help the situation have been “strikingly ineffective.” Unless we can produce a force that could combat the ever growing force of ISIS, the Syrian world will continue to be just as destructive to the world as…

By supporting Iraqi troops, it is helping the victims of ISIS fight back in order to take down ISIS. If America starts working to prevent terrorism, that can lead to less people joining ISIS in the first place. By using airstrikes, it will show ISIS their goal of creating an Islamic state is not so easy because other people are fighting back. It will also decrease the size of ISIS. To combat ISIS, America should be using Obama’s four step plan.…

Genocides have been occurring in Iraq for years, but the terrors existing within the lives of the Yazidis still await a resolution to put an end to Islamic State’s genocidal actions, caused by a detestation of the Yazidi religion. ISIS routinely pillages Yazidi villages, massacring the men and abducting the women and children. They refuse to hide their pride of loathing the religious community, and reveal to the world on social media their savage actions against the Yazidis. Nations perfectly capable of helping remain complacent and thus complicit in this genocide, despite a moral obligation to, at the very least, provide some form of humanitarian aid to the Yazidis. With the aid of international forces, the Yazidis could be brought together…

ISIL threatens the people of Iraq and Syria, and the Middle East, American citizens and whole countries around the world. Iraq Insurgency In Iraq

    • 447 Words

The previous Iraqi insurgencies resulted in heavy conflicts with the central government, not to mention the sectarian violence among the religious groups as well. The insurgency was a direct continuation following the U.S. led invasion in Iraq. As the U.S. withdrew its military, Sunni militant groups began to target the country’s majority Shia population in order to undermine the confidence in the Shia led government and its efforts to protect its people without support from the Americans. In 2014, the insurgency ascended severely following the conquest of Mosul and major areas in northern Iraq by the Sunni rebel group, thereby merging the new conflict with the Syrian Civil War, into a new, far deadlier conflict.…
