Ishani's Narrative: A Short Story

Little remorse ever made its way to the forefront of Ishani's mind. Every life that had been lost by the grace of her jaws never once pulled on the strings of her heart to question as her morality. Long ago had she become detached, long after her first kill. A tragic ending that made a new beginning. Abandonment - that had been the end. Perhaps a common. However, it was different for her. Alone, Ishani had no else to turn to but the very shadows that they had abandoned her for. Her pack. Sometimes they came back to mind, and she catches herself wondering about them. Curious now, Ishani let her nostrils point in the air. Venison. Fresh venison. Luck was certainly showering her with its graces. There was no hesitation in her limbs as she sprang towards the source, eager to claim the prize before anything else could. Or at least, that was what she thought. Instead, she came upon a bothersome sight. Lips curled up over ivory canines as blue eyes that held more coldness than the harshest winters fell upon a blonde-haired woman with what would have been her meal grasped in her …show more content…
Killing the woman wasn't an option; she didn't have the strength to do so, nor did she need a reason to label herself as a threat if she was truly being tracked. With all she did know, the meat could be poisoned. On the other hand, one would guess that the meat would have just been left alone on the forest floor - there was no point in a human endangering themselves if it could be executed without resulting in their own harm. Distrust still lingered at the back of her mind, but her hunger won the battle. She relaxed her stance, allowing herself to appear less threatening to the woman.
