Imagine losing a family member or close friend. This is what happened to the Nba all-star Isaiah Thomas right before a playoff game. Isaiah Thomas is a Nba all-star for the Boston Celtics who sister died in a car crash on April 15, 2017. Isaiah Thomas was able to overcome the difficulties of his sister’s death because of his love, perseverance, and loyalty.
Isaiah Thomas had to overcome the challenge of his sister Chyna dying. For example, the website, “Nba.com” states, “Chyna Thomas had been driving a 1998 Toyota Camry at 5 am on southbound Interstate 5 with no apparent sign of trouble when the car began to drift onto the left shoulder, The car vaulted a Jersey barrier and crashed into a large metal signpost. Isaiah Thomas used perseverance to overcome more obstacles other than his sister death. For instance, In an article by “USA Today”, The author states, “It was unclear if he'd play Sunday, and prior to the game TNT's cameras captured teammate Avery Bradley comforting Thomas on the bench during the pregame shootaround. But Thomas led the team out of the tunnel when Boston took the floor for pregame warmups. He looked toward the rafters just before the tip-off”(USA Today). This evidence illustrates Thomas perseverance, he went out that game with heartache to play with his team even though his sister just passed. Also, In the same article “USA Today”, States again, “Thomas' obstacles weren't resigned to just heartache. He lost a front tooth in Sunday's Game 1 win and then underwent oral surgery on Monday to try to reposition it. Thomas had even more work done on his mouth ahead of Tuesday's game to keep the swelling down”(USA Today). Isaiah Thomas used loyalty from fellow teammates and friends to overcome his sister death. For example, in the article “USA Today”, states, “The Celtics held a pregame moment of silence for Chyna Thomas, who died early Saturday in a one-car interstate accident in their home state of Washington. She was 22”(USA Today). This shows loyalty because they held the pregame moment of silence in Washington home state so this shows that everyone is on Isaiah Thomas side and hopes he get better. Similarly, “NBA”, states, “My family, my friends, they tell me to just keep going," he said. "My sister wouldn't want me to stop”(NBA). This shows loyalty because Chyna wouldn’t want him to stop playing just because of her death she would want Isaiah Thomas to honor her and love her even if she isn't there right with him. Undoubtedly, Thomas loyalty with his teammates and other people help him overcome his sister
