Summary: Isaiah is an 8 year old boy, who is currently in the third grade at Sunkist Elementary school. He is receiving intensive small group support daily through the school’s reading specialist for 45 minutes. Isaiah struggles with limited reading strategies and lacks sight and high frequency words knowledge. His initial reading assessment revealed that he only uses visual miscues and lacks monitoring for self-corrections. Throughout the sessions, Isaiah has been introduced to multiple reading strategies such as rereading for understanding, chunking familiar word parts, and using context clues or pictures to figure out unknown words.
