1) In Isaiah 53, God is communicating to us about His suffering servant. This passage gives us insight to what is to happen to Jesus when He comes to the earth to take on our sins. The people of this time may not have known what a huge prophecy this passage was to one day fulfill, but we living in the days since Christ's coming can easily see that this is a foreshadowing of what is to come in the life of Jesus.
2) In Isaiah 53, God is communicating several things about Himself. In verse one He is telling us that He can be revealed to us. In verses four and five, He is telling us that He bore our griefs and sorrows and that He has the power to heal us when it says He took up our pain and by His wounds we are healed. Verse one tells us that man can have some understanding of God, by what God reveals to Him. In verse two God is communicating that man often judges the appearance of man, we see this in verse two when it says that He had no beauty of majesty to attract us to Him. In verse three tells us a lot about how man often relates to God. Many men often reject God and try to do things on their own. In verse four, God is communicating about the griefs and sorrows that men have. In verse five, what is being communicated is that we can have peace and be healed. Another example of what God is teaching us about man is in verse six which is teaching us about how man sins against God.
4) Isaiah 53 fits into the book of Isaiah because the overall message of Isaiah is that Yahweh is salvation. The entire passage of Isaiah 53 is about the Lord’s will in Jesus coming to die, through Jesus death we have salvation. Also, there are several themes that undergird the central message these are the themes of judgement and redemption. In Isaiah 53 we see both, the judgement for our sins is being put onto Jesus and the redemption for our sins is coming from
