Isabel Peron is the first president in the world to be a woman. She served as president from 1974-1976. She originally served as the vice president of Argentina, her husband Juan Peron being the president of Argentina. She was unable to gain the much-needed support of any powerful group. Economic and political situations did not get any better, but instead became worse. She was told countless times by military officials to resign, but she stood stubborn and refused. She would not abandon her responsibilities as president. So, she continued to try and do what was right for Argentina, but on March 24, 1976, she was apprehended by air force officers and put under house arrest for five years. Which soon led to countless amounts of accusations that were held against her.
In 2007 there was an issue sent out for her arrest on charges of permitting armed forces to abuse human rights during her presidency. The arrest ordered for Isabel also shed light on crimes that were committed during the two earlier years while she was in office. She was also accused of signing decrees that allowed acts of state terrorism during her government. She was also brought in for questioning due to the disappearance of an Argentine activist, but that case was soon dismissed. Nonetheless, Isabel Peron has had many cruel accusations made against
