Isaac newton was a religious scientist. Sir Isaac Newton Kt, PRS was an English physicist and mathematician. He saw mathematics and numbers as central. What is less well known is that he was devoutly religious and saw numbers as involved in understanding God's plan for history from the Bible. He did a considerable work on biblical numerology, and, though aspects of his beliefs were not orthodox, he thought theology was very important. In his system of physics, God was essential to the nature and absoluteness of space. In Principia he stated, "The most beautiful system of the sun, planets, and comets, could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent and powerful Being."

His mathematics professor, Isaac Barrow, was the first to recognize Newton's unusual ability. When Barrow resigned to take another job in 1669, he recommended that Newton take his place. Newton became a professor of mathematics at age twenty-seven and stayed at Trinity in that capacity for twenty-seven years.
Important Discoveries. Two of Newton’s important discoveries are:
Gravity (1665)
Color Spectrum (1666-1672)
Newton’s discovery of Gravity
He was particularly obsessed by the orbit of the Moon around the Earth, and eventually reasoned that the influence of gravity must extend over vast distances. After seeing how apples always fall straight to the ground, he spent several years working on the mathematics showing that the force of gravity decreased as the inverse square of the distance.
Newton’s discovery of the Color Spectrum
Isaac Newton was the first to understand the rainbow — he refracted white light with a prism, resolving it into its component colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and
