Throughout his life, Isaac Asimov, had numerous jobs, although he will forever be a science fiction writer. Born on January 2, 1920, Isaac Asimov spent the first few years of his life in the Soviet Union. By the age of three, his family moved to the United States. Within moving to the United States, Isaac Asimov worked at his father’s candy store when not in school. At the store he worked the magazine rack. The rack consisted of the Amazing Stories science fiction magazine. Despite Mr. Asimov’s father’s disapproval, Isaac Asimov read the magazines. Through inspiration from the magazines, Mr. Asimov began to write short stories to share with his friends. Soon enough, he filled notebooks with his original story “The Greenville Chums at College”. Once Isaac Asimov became eleven years old, he knew that he craved the desire to write. …show more content…
When Isaac Asimov turned 15, he graduated from Boys High School. He then enrolled at Columbia University. During his time at Columbia, Mr. Asimov received his bachelor’s degree, as well as his M.A., all in chemistry. In 1945, he stopped his schooling to serve in the army. After World War II had finished, he went back to school to receive his Ph.D. in chemistry. Once Isaac Asimov finished his multiple years at school, he taught at Boston University School of Medicine. There, he became an associate professor, and a biochemistry professor. During the war, he served in the military and as a chemist for the Naval Air Experimental Station.
