Is Ugg Boots Ethical Or Unethical?

The idea of ethical and unethical is simply morality. Being able to distinguish right from wrong forms every single relationship in the world, whether it’s company to company, people to people, people to company, etc, it has a great impact in the world. Ugg Boots practices many unethical ways of running their business. Ugg boots has unfair pay to workers, creates pollution, and is high in animal testing and cruelty.
To begin with, the company, they practice unfair pay to workers that make these boots. Research shows that, In China, the Ugg factory workers are earning less than $3,700 (US) annually and working twice the hours to keep those Ugg prices down so American women and men may buy a cheap pair to look stylish while shopping. According to a source, not only are wool and sheepskin items cruelly produced, they’re also bad for the environment. The Environmental Working Group found that sheep are the worst greenhouse-gas polluters—even worse than cows—which is why they’re often referred to as the “Humvees” of animals. Wool production also degrades land and pollutes the water supply (“Watch the Video Exposing the Ugly Truth Behind UGG Boots.” PETA, www.peta.org/living/fashion/ugg-boots). Alongside the unfair pay of employees, creating Uggs causes great pollution which then also creates many more problems with our environment. The production of Uggs (with sheep) causes the worst gas production by far from any other animals that are used for the production of other various products. It is interesting that the text says that the company’s primary method for shipping in North America is the United Parcel Service (UPS) ground. This delivery service is just one part of the trucking industry that accounts for 12.8% of all of the fuel purchased in the U.S. UPS makes an effort to reduce their carbon footprint by offering a carbon neutral shipping option. However, the consumption of fuel continuingly depletes the resource, and the distribution of Uggs contributes to the prosperity of UPS and hence the depletion of fuel (“‘The Story of Ugg Boots’ by Justine Turkiewicz.” The Story of Stuff: Case Studies, 11 …show more content…
The text says that UGG boots are made of shearling—yep, that’s skin with the fleece still attached, people! Every year, millions of sheep are castrated and parts of their tails are cut off—often without any painkillers—before they’re finally slaughtered for their skin, which is what UGG boots are made of. They endure all that cruelty just for a pair of boots(“Watch the Video Exposing the Ugly Truth Behind UGG Boots.” PETA, www.peta.org/living/fashion/ugg-boots). Such actions show how unethical Ugg company is because they torture animals. No pain killers, sedatives, nothing. Many times they kill the animals right in front of their family members (other animals (animals have feelings too)). Another found fact is Sheep are typically crammed into crowded pens. It’s also considered “normal” in the Australian wool industry for approximately 3 million young lambs to die every spring (Http://www.theearthchild.co.za/author/chantel/. “Horrible! The Truth Behind That Pair Of Uggs.” The Earth Child, 16 Nov. 2016, www.theearthchild.co.za/horrible-truth-behind-pair-uggs.). With all these animal deaths caused by animal cruelty/testing companies, not just Uggs, we’re losing our population of many animals. We need animals for food, most of the time, but if they’re all gone because of these companies, how is that going to happen? Many people rely on animals (farmers) to make a living and to put food on the dinner table. Finally, In

Argument found in 13th: Government and corporations purposely try to detain all colored people by scripting laws in their favor. This should not be allowed as the land of the free is taking away everything free by enslaving the colored people by sentencing colored people to prison.
