Of course, it’s easy to blame his rise to power on racism, but that truly is where the problem with Trump lies. However, this modern racism he benefits from is less overt than it was in the early to mid 20th century. It’s much more discreet now; it’s about how he has the power to do the things he does and say the things he says without immediate demonization - a luxury that is not afforded to people of color. If any person of color was in his position, demonizing white people, they very well would not be protected the way Trump is. Trump knows this too, and that’s how he remains in power.
It’s relatively easy for a white person to dismiss a person of color as “entitled” or blame “reverse racism” if they get upset at Trump’s remarks; because, to these believers of the post-racist society, Trump isn’t being racist, he’s just being “honest.” His honesty doesn’t need statistics or figures either. He’s white, so what he says must be true, even if there is no reality in his claims. However, he doesn’t even need reality, because he’s automatically protected by his white
