The Zika virus is something that we’ve heard about for some time now, however it wasn’t until I did this research that I actually noticed how rapidly the virus has spread all over the world. The Zika virus declared a global health emergency because all the different areas that are being affected and a lot of new information comes out on a daily basis on how people should protect themselves by using condoms all the time especially during pregnancy. This global emergency alert has our population scared of all the possible effects the virus can cause. To my surprise the Zika virus can also be transmitted by sharing sex toys which I didn’t know about. But the reality is that people are not going to stop having sex, therefore they expect people to take care of themselves and stay “healthy” while still being sexually active which is the reason they are emphasizing condoms and the importance of it. Any adult that’s sexually active should be responsible and protect themselves not only from the Zika virus but also from any STD’s. On the other hand the Zika virus is a good thing for condom makers because people are now more likely to protect themselves due to the fact that everyone is scared. By the Pope approving birth control he’s encouraging more people especially Catholics to protect themselves and be more careful when it comes to having sex which is something good when it comes to human sexuality. Due to the Zika virus people are more likely to use ways to protect themselves because of the fact that the Zika virus is very alarming and concerning nationwide. This could have a positive effect on human sexuality because perhaps people could avoid more than one disease by wearing condoms. On the other hand, condoms might become more expensive since they are in very high demand and condom makers want to make profit. Beliefs about sex might be affected in a positive way and the Pope is a perfect example of these changes because he is “open to the idea” of birth control which could eventually start changing a lot of things. I have faith that doctors will find a cure for the Zika virus so they are able to safe many lives and hopefully by the time that happens people understand the importance of using
