Why Do Children Grow Up Too Fast

The definition of the word kid or child in our culture is changing. In our modern culture children are beginning to age quicker and quicker; children do not even want to be children anymore. Dress and appearance, education, and technology such as televisions are forcing them to grow up extremely too fast. A huge problem in our culture today that causes children to grow up too fast are the fashion trends. “I talk with kids every day, and all I can say is there’s significant pressure to grow up very quickly, and the clothing is just one part of it,” says youth leader Donahue-Grossman. There have been many ads releases from various companies such as, " Be Yourself, Everyone Else is Taken"(Oscar Wilde) and “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”( Ralph Waldo Emerson) supporting kids in being themselves. Nike even advertises originality on its clothing. The funny thing is that the advertising on the clothing is ironic. While the shirt is supporting being unique it is also a popular, stylish brand which everyone wears. That is the problem with modern culture and why it causes children to grow up too fast, kids want to be trendy and have all the new, cool things because the culture sets the standard. Therefore, while they are promoting kids to be themselves, they are actually promoting them to be like adults. All in all, the culture for children needs to change. There need to be appropriate fashion trends set up for children so they don 't dress like adults, television shows should teach wholesome values and children 's tv time should be limited and schools should not put so much pressure on young children with too large amounts of
