Non Traditional Student Analysis

Great Essays
Currently the target population for Indiana University Southeast is traditional students under the age of 25. With the decreasing numbers of traditional students attending IUS, a target market they are striving for are non-traditional students and transfer students. This includes students who are single parents, veterans, international students, those returning to college after interruptions in their education, those who carry significant family and work obligations, those who self-identify as being a non-traditional student, and those who are 26 years of age or older. Transfer students consist of those students who have completed credits and attended classes at a different university but transferred to another university due to circumstances whether it be positive or negative.
In order to give non-traditional students the best type of education that accommodates their lifestyle, IUS offers different types of benefits. These include offers such as online/hybrid classes, evening classes, designated study areas, and for those students who have children, discounted on-campus daycare services. Students get a lot of support and encouragement by other organizations such as the Non-Traditional Student Union (NTSU) and the Student Veterans Organization (SVO). I am writing to you today to ask you to please allow me to meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards. The reason why I am not currently meeting these standards is because I have exceeded the University’s allowed 60-semester hour limit for a single Masters degree. Now I cannot receive financial aid, which is crucial for me, as I do not have any other source to continue my studies. First of all, had I been aware of this limit, I would have begun this process about a year ago to avoid having to go through this ordeal. The reason why I am over the allowed 60 semester hours is because I am currently pursuing two separate Masters degree programs at Indiana University at the same time.…

With a bachelor's degree in nursing that will help me excel in critical thinking and use the skills I learned from Indiana University everyday in my line of work. I will be majoring in Nursing reason being that nursing is a special skill that you learn the overall concept from books and class, but it's not universal for all people that's the reason it's a person centered care and nursing is individualized to a specific person and taking care of their overall needs being physical, psychological, spiritual and social needs in their way to recovery and health. In addition to my academic goals at Indiana University, I plan on pursuing activities and clubs related to my interests and to be an active member on campus and to form friendships with others that have…

This is a non-traditional high school and based on the population and my experience during the fall semester I still think that there is a lot to do here for this particular population (about their age, legal and social status). Everybody seemed very committed to work hard to support these students. It is true that regarding working with them in regular sessions is a challenge for the counselor. I feel it is difficult to work directly with students as probably I could have worked in a traditional school. I am really interested in working with this population and I also feel that if someone wants to learn and understand the immigrant population in other schools in this area and other areas this is a great place to learn.…

Being a nontraditional student it is essential you possess good time management skills. As a student, I have a full time job, a part time job, educational obligations, and volunteer coach in my local community. This may seem overbearing from the outside looking in, but by managing my time properly I can easily accomplish these things. I am a full time police officer, work part time as an armed security guard, coach baseball in a local youth league, and taking two classes at once while enrolled with Bethel University. This can appears to be a lot on one person, however by using effective time management skills it is very manageable.…

From recent years, especially high school, I have learned what kind of writer I am and what techniques work best for me. When it comes to writing papers I have written a fare share, from research expository writings to persuasive writing. When I first visited Indiana this past summer, I didn’t know what to expect. I had heard that the Kelley School of Business was really nice, but I never really thought it would be as amazing as it was. After our official tour, my father and I walked to Kelley and decided to check it out. At first, I was excited by the physical aspects of the building; a seemingly new school with incredibly facilities was exactly what I was looking for in a business school. As we continued our unofficial tour, the students that were present kept approaching us and asking if we needed any help finding anything, and I instantly knew that I wanted to be around students that are helpful, kind, and fun to be around, which is what Indiana showed that they could offer…
