People might see something as totally okay at that moment in their life, but as poeple grow and mature, they learn about injustices and hardships, that are caused by these traditions. As people grow they start questioning their traditions, they find the flaws. In, "The Lottery", two of the characters have a conversation about stopping the tradition at hand. They talk about the other towns that have stopped this lottery because it was wrong. The old man doesn't believe it should be stopped, he has been raised in this society to always follow this tradition, he has been lucky enough to never face the tragedies that are result of the lottery.
