Argumentative Essay On Kids Help Phones

Kidshelpphone.ca promotes support for children and teens twenty-hour hours a day, seven days a week. There are two main areas of focus on this website and since there are many aspects to discover I will mainly concentration on teenagers rather than kids. I believe examining topics related to teens for this assignment will be more interesting because the themes are more relevant to my own subject position. As Trisha argues in (*TedTalk), teenagers are less likely to speak about their problems to a parent or trusted adult so they keep it bottled up inside. Kids Help Phone puts an end to young people having no place to go by offering an anonymous space where they can speak about various problems and acquire the support they need. Although speaking to a counsellor involves calling the toll free number, the website itself provides multiple outlets of help in one space. Therefore, the language used is very common and familiar to the age group. The counselors on the phone speak both English and French to help a wider range of people and each page has an option to listen, make the font size smaller or larger and to print the webpage. I found it interesting that each page associated with Kids Help Phone has a questionnaire at the very bottom on how useful the page is on a scale of one to five with a space for extra comments in order to gain constructive feedback. The site is not cluttered with information but is divided into specific parts with less information on each page to not lose the users
