n the play Romeo and Juliet William Shakespeare the 2 main characters kill themselves but who was the cause of their ultimate demise? All the characters had their own fatal flaws whether it be pride, haste or fear they all possessed hem and the worst one has to be pride and the character Tybalt possessed this trait the most he loved his house and family name so much. Tybalt is also a very aggressive man as soon as he sees a Montague instantly wants to fight them no matter what. Tybalt is a very skilled sword fighter and this skill kills many in this play including Mercutio. For these reasons Tybalt is the cause of Romeo and Juliet’s death.
The first reason why Tybalt killed them is because of his family pride Tybalt is a man full of pride so when he saw Romeo at the Capulet party it infuriated him. Tybalt even said in the play “Boy, this shall not excuse the injuries That thou hast done me; therefore turn and draw” (III: i : 62-63). It pained Tybalt so much that a Montague was in his family’s party he wanted to kill Romeo this challenge to Romeo is what eventually cause Romeo’s death in the end of the play the reason for this is since Romeo refused Mercutio had to step in and fight Tybalt himself.
