When the first cell phones came out and had SMS messaging, it was a huge fad from the start. Text talk made sense while writing SMS messages on cell phones because it was so much easier. Instead of a person being forced to push a button three separate times for each letter of a word, you could make a ten letter word into three letters. Simply, abbreviating words was quicker. As cell phones and messaging evolved, the texting language evolved with it. Everything that I have mentioned so far are some of the positives, but there are negative effects. Many people let the two very different writing styles overlap each other. They are used correctly when they are appropriately used. The two different styles are meant to be used separately. It is okay to use the text language in certain settings and times. You just must know how to use it correctly. Like I said earlier, our language is constantly evolving. We adapt to change for our survival and lifestyle. Text talk is not the first and will not be the last embranchment of the English language. This just happens to be the branch of this specific generation. Text talk has proved helpful and as an easier way of getting your point across, but it is not to be used formally. Proper English has been around for thousands of years, since the Bible, and will continue to be relevant long after our lifetimes.
