Would you consider a man who blinded a god`s son and now who will not let him go home for many years, a hero? Well this man, Odysseus, is a hero. He as well left to help fight in the Trojan war,and was the best fighter there. He helped saved many lives for people he cares about. He saves Telemachus (his son) and saves his sailors.
In The Odyssey, Odysseus saves his men it shows he cares about his crew members. Odysseus risks his life to get his men from Circe. His herb that was given to him by Hermes, which makes it, so Circe`s potions and spells do not work on him. Well, Circe expects him to be friendly to her, so he makes a deal with her. “Circe, if you want me to eat and drink you must free my men and bring them to me that I may see them

The suitors have been rude to Telemachus and his parents. They act as though it is their house. As Telemachus says “You kill our oxen,sheep, and fats goat. You drink all of our” and “You suitors are all pestering my mother to marry you against her will.” Athena as well tells Telemachus, “They mean to kill before you reach home.” When Odysseus found out of this, he was angry. He told Telemachus about his plan to kill the suitors, and he agreed.
People say Odysseus is not a hero because he wants to go supposedly home, but he has been away for 22 years. However, after Polyphemus was blinded he shouted to his father, Poseidon, “Hear me, great Poseidon! If I am indeed your son, see that Odysseus never reaches his home alive, Or if he must get back to his home, let him do so only as men. Let him reach his home in another man`s ship and find trouble in his house” So Odysseus did not choose to be away for his family for that long, he was indeed trying to get home.
Many people think he is not a hero, but he is one. He is standing up for all the people he does cares for. He did kill the suitors but think about they were going to try to kill Odysseus and his son. Odysseus is a brave person. He is smart but not quick thinking, but he is a real and true
