One point that was brought up was the fact that consumption of sugar might lead to weight gain but in this journal the author says that data is inconsistent so it isn’t a concrete fact. Overall this journal wasn’t as against sugar as the previous journal. Another new point this journal introduces is that dental care has been increased in the past years and this could be an effect to increased consumption of sugar. This journal is mostly concerned about the amounts of sugar being consumed in countries and where the majority of sugar consumption is taking place and the differences in age and sugar consumption. The research presented shows that The United States, The UK, and Australia currently consume the most sugar. From all of this research on sugar, it is clear that the only sugar we consume should come from nature. Yes, fruit and carbohydrates do contain sugar but it is natural sugar our body can handle. If all of these studies are coming out saying added sugar can cause people to crave more and consume more and added sugar can be addictive and mess with our thought processes why would anyone want to consume added sugar? A fair recommendation people could follow would be to eat a natural whole food diet with sporadic consumption of minimally processed foods. Some sugar is okay but it needs to be very minimal and not part of the majority of a persons diet. If people looked at ingredients when they went to the grocery store they would start buying different things and be shocked at the foods they have been purchasing. A good rule of thumb is to buy things with 7 or less ingredients. If people would buy things with zero grams of added sugar or products with sugar or sweeteners being the last ingredient they would be much better off. I would recommend all of these tips to my friends and family and I would also suggest they did some research on their own personal diets and calculated how much sugar they consume in a week.
