I was goalie for my soccer team, some may think that goalies are not very important, but they actually have to lead the whole team during a game. Goalies are the furthest back and the only one that can see the entire field. My main focus was communicating with the defenders, but I would also scream things at the top of my lungs just so the forwards could hear some of my advice as well. My coach always told me that I needed to talk to the players at every moment, yelling what was going on behind them, beside them, and all around them so that they could all be aware at all times. I tried to do as my coach said and I feel like I did a pretty good job. So, although I was not chosen as an actual team captain, I did have a leadership role on the field. I was thankful for this position because it really made me put myself out there and give advice to my teammates. I saw a different perspective than any other player, so I would always try to communicate what I was seeing and my teammates told me that it was always helpful. Going from being a shy girl to screaming positive words or advice across the field is a big jump, but I was and always will be thankful for this opportunity. It really put me in a spot where I had no other choice than to be a leader and as I became more comfortable with it, I began to enjoy it and truly loved the
