Jeremy Reiss’s message within “Sociology Making a Difference” is that his sociological research, along with the Community Service Society, is being utilized to assist the poor of New York City, which makes up roughly one third of the city’s population. Thus, this sociology based research is impacting a lot of people and making a difference.

Have you ever been a respondent or subject in any type of sociological or psychological research project? If so, how did it feel to be studied?
I have not been a respondent to any official sociological or psychological research project; however, I would consider student surveys an aspect of a more hidden sociological project. Student surveys gauge how students engaged with their instructors and are encouraged to include critical criticism and opinions of the course. I think the results from these surveys can be analyzed from a sociological perspective.
2. Which type of sociological research method sounds most interesting to you? Why?
I think the most interesting form of sociological research is the ethnographic method. The reason is that this form of research requires one to place themselves in the environment of the group of people they are researching. As a historian, this is a far-fetched method because it is a difficult task to complete. I mean, it would be pretty amazing to be able to place oneself in a historical setting such as the Roman Republic or ancient Jerusalem; however, this technology does not exist yet. For the moment, though, I do have primary sources to perform ethnographic studies to an extent. These primary sources are the closest thing I have to go back in time, and thus, they could be utilized, a small degree, to perform an ethnographic study. I would also assume that the sociological imagination is of major importance as
