Some now even say, that slavery was a “necessary evil” and that the past is the past, but that is simply not the truth.
Slavery was evil, period. It was not necessary, it was an easy and lazy way for Caucasians to reach success. In the south an average family owned one to nine slaves and families with big plantations owned more than a hundred slaves. In 1804 Slavery was abolished in the north and in 1808 the congress eliminated the importation of slaves from Africa.In Dec. 6, 1865 after more than two hundred years of suffering, slaves were finally “free”. The K.K.K used to kill African Americans for no apparent reason. They would go out to the streets with masks and covered in white to not be recognised and hang black people from trees and then burn them in front of their families to. Even if there were witnesses to the murders they couldn't do a thing about it, since black people could not testify in court and Caucasians would mostly side with the racism.
