An epic hero is defined as a character in an epic poem who is noble and brave and is affected by great events or admired for his achievements, during the course of this class we have read of many epic heroes; two of my favorites being Gawain and Belinda. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Sir Gawain is one of King Arthur’s faithful knights, and embodies the nature of what a hero is. Heroes are people who are meant to uphold the greater good, and do what is right in the face of adversity; and if they fail to do what is right in the face of adversity, they are meant to right their wrong, Sir Gawain does all of these things.
