Is Rainsford Justified In Killing General Zaroff

In the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” Rainsford was justified in killing General Zaroff. In this story it's about two great hunters which are Rainsford and General Zaroff. Rainsford ends up meeting Zaroff when he's on a boat when all of a sudden he hears gunshots and falls off. He swims to a Island to find the house Zaroff lives in. Zaroff introduces himself to be a great hunter but tells Rainsford about his new game which is hunting people. Rainsford doesn't like this new game the general was speaking of. So the general gets an idea to hunt Rainsford. On the hunt Rainsford was smarter and quicker then the General. Rainsford ends up winning the game and killing him.
