Is Rainsford Clever

Improved Essays
Rainsford is a man of logic and reason. His clever actions and resourcefulness while Zaroff’s guest on Ship-Trap island prove my argument. Rainsford is a hunter and a rather talented and well known one to say the least. He has outsmarted his prey time and time again, and he has separated himself from most mediocre hunters that are competing with him for recognition. Furthermore, Whitney tells Rainsford that he’s seen him hit a moose in the dark four-hundred yards away. While hunting with Zaroff, however, Rainsford is the prey, but he still uses his reason, knowledge, and cleverness to his advantage. Following his instinct, Rainsford cut a clever and complicated trail through the island to hoodwink General Zaroff. Zaroff tried to defeat Rainsford

In the film “12 O’clock High,” leadership and followership play a significant role in the plot, and it has been used for decades by the military as a training exercise. The same principles were used in the Human Factors class to help the students determine their leadership styles and how to be a better follower. From the very first few scenes, “12 O’clock High” was a true story about how a bombing unit in World War 2 bounced back from a period of bad luck and poor training to become one of the best units the U.S. Army Air Force had. As the plot begins, Colonel Davenport is shown the Officer in Command of the bomber unit. While he participates in every bombing run, and has a close relationship with most of his men, his men are performing poorly…

n the short story "August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rain" by Ray Bradbury, he chooses to contrast technology and nature in the nursery to show that in the future so many animals will be extinct that humans will only have technology to resemble what nature used to be like. Bradbury describes some animals in the nursery as "aluminum roaches an iron crickets" to show that every creature in the nursery was mechanical. The author shows how the nursery resembles an artificial jungle by describing how the animals took shape cavorting in crystal substances, he does this because he wants to show that the nursery is just there to create a fantasy. As well as Bradbury describes the scenery in the nursery as "walls dissolved into distances of parched…

I believe that he is happier before the operation. I believe this because you never see a time when he gets mad. However, when he is smart, he gets mad more than a few times, for example, when he flipped out on Dr. Strauss on stage he was enraged. This cannot be seen when Carlie is dumb. No matter what is happening, he is always smiling and joking around, but when he is smart he's never happy and always so serious.…

Willa Cather once said, “The end is nothing; the road is all.”. This quote means that the end of a journey is not as important as the journey itself. While it may seem that it is talking about traveling on road, the quote itself is metaphoric in that the road and a journey are being compared. Some may argue that this isn’t true, but I agree with the quote. I think Willa Cather’s quote is genuine and meaningful because of my own life experiences.…

Jarvis's greatest fear is the publicness, stating that he fears "our supposed privacy crisis reputed by the media and abetted by the government, could result in our missing many opportunities the net affords to connect with each other and with information" (Get over it). This means that his concern is based on how the public fears the lack of privacy would ruin their lives. Jarvis thinks that this "lack of privacy" gives more opportunities for the public to be able to advance for a better life. According to the suggestions Jarvis made, facial recognition, which German's privacy chief considered "taboo", could be helpful in "finding missing people or terrorists" (Get over it).…

The story of Robin Hood could be used as a metaphor for the message of Atlas Shrugged. Its original form is the story of a man, who fights from those who would seek to steal the rightful property of the people, but human perception corrupted its meaning, and it became the story of a man who steals from the wealthy and gives to the needy. To some, this may seem like a minor difference, but it changes the meaning. It shifts the purpose of robin from a defender of property, to a provider for the weak and needy. This is the reason that Ragnar Danneskjöld asserts that his goal is to kill Robin Hood, because Robin Hood is a symbol of the war between the wealthy and the rich, while the real war is against those who can produce and those who depends…
