They may be banned from entering uni from high school or if they are caught in uni they might be banned from getting into another uni. If let into another uni the student may not be trusted. When it comes to a business people it also follows them career wise. This may cause the business person to be fired or asked to step down if in a high position. If fired from the job the person will have a difficult time finding another job as they too will not be trusted. If there is a need to use someones else words or work you should always reference it. Referencing is important as it recognize the different of your own work and someone else. Its also important as it shows not only your point of view by another 's as well. Referencing also validates what you trying to tell the reader and often refers to other research that leads up to your study. The punishment for the offense of plagiarism can vary depending on the intentions that the student had and also the extend of the plagiarism. Intellectual property is a variety of property created by people such as authors or inventors. Law of intellectual property encloses the areas of Copyright, Patents and the Trademake law. Copyright is defined as the legal, economic and moral rights that an Author or Creator have towards there work. Although copyright protects the expression, idea or the concept, it does not however protect the actual idea or concept itself. If you are caught copy an Authors work they have the right to sue the plagiarist meaning the Author may be granted money restitution. Patents are a grant of exclusive rights to commercially exploit any device, substance, method or process which is new. When getting a Patent for our product there are two types you can pick, these include the 'Standard Patent ' which is 20 years of protection and the control of the invention or these the 'Innovation Patent ' which is only 8 years of protection. The way of identifying a product or device is what a Trademark is referred to. Trademakes help the customers of the product identify the quality or service of the product that they have brought. When getting a Trademake it normally lasts up to ten years of the products life, but it can be renewed 12 months before its due.
