What is Reality?
We are all unique. We all have our own way of thinking, seeing things and interpreting them. Not one person sees things the same way you do. We may agree on some things but that does not mean we see it the same way. Therefore, I believe we all have our own understanding of what reality is.
In the article “Is our Universe Fake?” Lawrence talks about the three types of reality.
1. Phenomenological reality: Subjective experience, whatever we see becomes real.
2. Consensus reality: We believe in things based on opinions and observations of other people.
3. Non- reality : Nothing is real
Out of those three, personally I believe in phenomenological reality, or subjective experience. If I do not see it, I do not believe in it. This touches in all aspects of life. One example could be that I do not believe in ghost because I have never seen one. I have watched a dozen movies about ghost and I have heard people tell me a thousand

His first experience was dreaming his aunt was dead and waking up to realizing her aunt had been dead for seven weeks. He then goes to a dream specialist who attempts to help him, but ends up using George’s ability to his advantage. Throughout the book George changed reality several times all through his dreams, which the dream specialist controls. Not many of us are able to dream clearly but if you ever experience it you will realize it is actually kind of fun, or relieving. This tends to happen to me a lot, another example is when I’m having nightmares, I realize I’m dreaming and I try my hardest to wake up until I do. Most of the cases the lucid dreams you have tend to be weird and emotional. Back to the “Lathe of Heaven” where George would dream about aliens to stop wars and humans turning gray to stop discrimination, although George wasn’t aware he was dreaming his dreams would turn reality into a weird

OF MICE AND MEN Of Mice and Men is a novella, written by John Steinbeck, following two displaced workers; George Milton and Lennie Small who seek opportunities during The Great Depression. As well as the importance of the dream, creating empathy by influencing the reader.…

Cormac McCarthy’s novel, The Road, shows how a young boy grows to be independent. This makes me believe that McCarthy’s novel is a coming-of-age story. Through various aspects of his novel, McCarthy shows how humans are hybridized; we are a mix between dependency and autonomy and that determines our identity. As we learn, grow, and mature, we must find a balance between the spectrum of independence and community.…

The ideas inside our head, and our experiences, shape the world we live in; the world that is out there and is unique for us. The world that we imagine and want to change, followed by our values, and ethics of how this planet should be like. In, Such Stuff as Dreams, Keith Oatley states that through art we experience emotions, possibilities for something else. Art acts as a medium to see, feel and think in different ways, and the possibilities in how the world and ourselves could change.…

LAP #2 Dreaming is an unknown phenomenon where illusions are materialized from incidents, beliefs, emotions, sensations and ideas. The deep rooted emotions and experiences surface from the soul in the rem of sleep. These disambiguations are usually seen as a bridge between an absolute reality and a distorted fabrication of the mind, however dreams have been perceived as a way of communication between a spiritual being and its subject in the unknown realm of mind. Sometimes these illusions may present themselves in a manner where the human psyche fails to comprehend its message, the fashioned mirage of the mind may occasionally serve as a glimpse of the foreshadowed future or a symbolic representation of a reality yet to present itself in the…

Sleep is, perhaps, one of the most confounding aspects of humanity, even to this very day. There is a host of theories as to why humans require sleep, as well as a similar variety of theories as to why sleep brings dreams. Some say that they are simulations - a means originally produced by the brain to help humans prepare for particular events they have yet to encounter in reality. Others say it is to de-stress the mind, to unravel the complicated webs of data collected through our senses throughout the day. Regardless of the specifics, I have always been a dreamer, and a vivid one at that.…

This confused state of reality is often brought up by Agent Smith in the movie, for example he says “this reality, whatever you want to call it, I can 't stand it any longer. It 's the smell, if there is such a thing” (The Wachowski Brothers & Silver, 1999, Scene 147). Smith is part of the software, yet even he is not sure of the state of reality that exists in and outside of the Matrix. Since the software of the Matrix is human-made, it consists of the limits that humans cannot break free off, namely the inability of finding the absolute…

Abstract The three readings of The Matrix, Descartes and Plato discuss the differences concerning the reality of a computer-simulated system, a cave controlled by mankind who are kept captive and a man controlled by his perceptions of demons and evil that all show that life may or may not be real depending on what they each believe. The readings demonstrate the certainty and uncertainty in three areas that deal with skepticism of reality and knowing whether what is experienced everyday is scientifically logical in our minds. The Matrix, Descartes, Plato One of the more important similarities between the two readings of literature…

The first is that the senses of one are deceiving, the second is the notion that life is nothing but a dream and the last is the evil genius. These forms of skepticism attempt to rule out everything that may be fictitious and appearance and reality plays a role in it. When senses deceive, one is fooled by whatever was originally perceived to be. Appearance itself plays a greater role than reality, simply because one is not aware of the objective aspect up until the person becomes aware that they were mislead. Appearance becomes the reality, until one can prove it otherwise.…
