Junk food is made to taste a certain way and send signals to the brain to eat more even when the body is full and had its fair share of the junk food. Moskowitz gathers a staggering 135 pages of data for the extension of a new Dr. Pepper soda product. The test sixty-one new formulas for the soda were sent to several large cities in the United States, to be taste tested. The formulas consisted of different amounts and ratios of cherry flavoring ,vanilla flavoring and "Dr. Pepper flavoring”. After tasting the new experimental formulas, taste testers recorded their findings by numerical rating the taste test results and answering a multitude of questions about the quality of the soda. For better results there was a five minute resting period to restore their taste buds allowing them more indepthly to analyze the next sip. Scientist pay special attention to not only the taste of the product but the smell and visual appeal. Results have shown that color and taste preferences varied based on the age, gender, and race of the taste testers .The idea is to find the right combination of ingredients that maximize the bliss point. Or the point when the tongue experiences a complete satisfaction in taste. The entire process was to manipulate the correct ratio and balance of ingredients necessary to make the human brain want more of the product. Testing on a large variety of subjects gave a more broad and general idea of …show more content…
This makes us want more. Even though it isn’t a bad thing in itself it is what is in the foods that is bad. Most snack and junk foods have high levels of sugars and sodium which are both needed daily to function properly. But when a consumer overeats because the brain has been manipulated this isn’t fair. Although most companies C.E.O.s would argued that nobody is making the customers eat the unhealthy food , closer examination shows that the science used in creating this food makes consumers desire more. Our bodies have no choice once we begin eating them but to want more. The more of the unhealthy food we eat the more unhealthy we
