Mulan is different from most of the heroes in the movie, Mulan. Only men would go to war and all of the heroes were men. Mulan, on the other hand, was female, and still became a hero and went to war. Mulan develops a character of an atypical hero by her gender and bravery to go into war, and by her cleverness in the actions she took during the battles against the Huns. She had lots of bravery being a female and dressing up as a male to go into war. When she was in the war, she was very brave. According to “Woman Warrior,” the text states, “...she [Mulan] sweats her way through basic training until she gets good and strong, and when she faces an enemy too big to fight she outsmarts them” (Brown and Shapiro, 1). This shows how Mulan never showed
