“Technology is dominated by two types of people: those who understand what they do not manage and those who manage what they do not understand.”-Archibald Putt.” Now I chose this specific author quote because I feel that it applies to the topic at hand “is modern Technology hurting us more than it’s helping us”? And in my opinion, I do not feel that modern technology is hurting us in any shape, way or Form.
Technology not only helps us keep up with friends and family that we have grown out of touch with, it also makes research and teaching a lot simpler, and simply makes life easier all around. technology can be used to hurt, but it all depends on who using it and how, for example, in Nicholas Carr essay “Is google making us stupid?” he talks about how the internet is “chipping away my capacity for concentration and contemplation” but doesn’t talk about how the computer also helps with concentration

A professor from Stanford University, Clifford Nass, stated, "Kids have to learn about emotion, and the way they do that, really, is by paying attention to other people. They have to really look them in the eye. " Most kids these days don't even communicate face-to-face. Texting has become the main form of communication, so when kids get home, how can they look at each other in the eye if they just text? Another study has shown that children's social skills are affected negatively when they multitask with technology.…

The benefits coming from the development of technology today are not worth the risks of the potential misuses, loss of human nature, dependency, and/or any other potential problem that could arise. We have much proof that technology can be a dangerous thing such as nuclear weapons, then again, it has proven to be an extremely beneficial thing too such as airplanes. It is an absolute fact however that technology proves to be dangerous no matter how helpful it may be, if it is placed in the wrong hands, and that simply is not a factor that should be a risk. To begin, “Sometime early in this century the intelligence of machines will exceed that of humans.…

In addition to this, technology allows for computers to download softwares/programs that can be used to enhance the curriculum in class. Students can follow along with the lecture that is being presented to them by observing the computer. On the contrary, it might seem like allowing college students to use computer devices to create a distraction to what the instructor is addressing and tampers their learning focus. It has been claimed in “Technology Changing How Students Learn, Teachers Say”, by the author Matt Richtel, a professional journalist for the New York Times, that “There is a widespread belief among [professors] that students’ constant use of digital technology is hampering their attention spans…”(Par. 1). This portrays how technology is not actually a resourceful tool because it is affecting the student 's attention span instead of the computers improving the methods of learning.…
