His hunger had been for a while and his greed had evened. Macbeth grew jealous of Banquo’s sons, which would take over the bloodline of the king. Although it was not by his hand, Macbeth sends murderers to slay the innocent Banquo and his kin. Banquo was once a close and dear friend to Macbeth, but a fruitless crown and barren sceptre were more valuable to Macbeth than the life of a companion. As the death toll rose the innocent blood spilt began to change Macbeth and his wife like a sickness. Macbeth had restless nights and horrifying visions of Banquo and death, knowing that his murders were unjust and cruel. Lady Macbeth also knew of their bloody sins and cursed with imaginary guilt on her palms.
