Lying is a normal thing people do everyday, but is it on purpose? When people lie it's usually because they consciously know they're lying. I mean come, on everybody lies that’s what makes us human. Alas though lying is really awesome, we probably shouldn’t do it, so do i think lying is good, no.

Most Americans think that lying has it's pros, and cons.Evidence In the AP-Ipsos poll of article 1, it says that 65% of Americans say that it's okay to lie to avoid hurting someone's feelings but some of those people also said that lying is never good. The problem with this statement is, occasionally lying must be done in order to protect someone. It is for the following that I believe that lying is almost never acceptable. Opponents may say that it is acceptable to lie whenever because they have free will and can do as they desire. Except, most reasons behind people's lies are to benefit themselves.…

After reading the article "Is Lying for the Greater Good Ethical" By Thomas G. Plante, it is evident that sometimes lying can be for the greater good because it can prevent other people getting their feelings hurt and being hurt physically . First the author states that, "Sometimes lying could be the more appropriate ethnical response to a ethnical conflict." "For example, if a friend of yours were to ask you "How do I look in my new outfit." "One might be compelled to tweak the truth to not offend or hurt the feelings of someone who matters to you". This means that a tiny white lie like this really isn't going to matter in any way shape or form.…

If you ask most people do you think lying is acceptable, majority of them will not hesitate and tell you yes, and then give you multiple reasons on why lying is a bad thing. But if you actually sit down and think, everyone lies several times a day sometimes without even knowing it because the lie was so small and meaningless. But in other occasions people lie to protect things they care for and about they are also willing to accept the consequences behind their lies and actions. Studies show that lying is sometimes acceptable in certain situations to prevent any harm that can be brought on an individual. Lying to protect an individual secures the situation by sugar coating a lie that is being performed. Misleading someone can cause harm such as trust issues and that reflects badly on the person who is lying. Lying must be taken into consideration when it could protect one another. For Example, in the article “It’s the Truth: Americans Conflicted About Lying” by Randy Cohen says, ¨In the AP-Ipsos poll, 65 percent of those questioned said it was sometimes OK to lie to avoid hurting someone's feelings.”…

In “The Ways We Lie” by Stephanie Ericsson she discusses and breaks down the activity of lying into different kinds of lies. Ericsson goes into great detail of about 10 of them, but there are many more. Some lies are for your peace of mind and maybe still bad for both parties, and some are for the better of someone else’s feelings. Ericsson believes that even if you feel you are perfect, nobody is and still tell lies no matter big or small, we do it and at times are unaware that it is considered a lie. In an interview with Robin Roberts, Robert Feldman, someone who has researched the subject of lies and deception for twenty plus years, said “We do it because it’s easy and because we get away with it and because it helps us in life” (Firestone). The human mind often assists in lying by helping the liar believe that by not telling the truth they are protecting someone else or themselves (Firestone). People are able to put their minds at ease when lying by convincing themselves that it is not that bad and that they are not doing anything wrong (Anonymous). It is not uncommon for people to only share information that they deem “safe” to tell and not tell everything; that is still a lie. It is a lie of omission, which at times is the worst kind of lie (Firestone).…
