These particular lies aren't harmful because kids need something to believe in, now imagine christmas without santa, valentines day without cupid, or easter without the easter bunny, in order to enjoy certain holidays and traditions these lies were created to give kids something to look forward to.
At times the truth is discouraging, and under certain circumstances such as medical situations, doctors often sugar coat the truth giving false impressions in survival in order to encourage patients to continue to fight, and by doing so this acceptable lie provides hope.
Despite how lying can help build relationships, all those lies are what also damages a relationship, ruining the trust that you tried so hard to build, making it even hard to regain that trust. But think of it this way; certain lies are able to help manage and maintain healthy relationships.
