Doctor Strange has officially wrapped (according to director Scott Derrickson on Twitter), and the internet is currently going nuts over photos of Benedict Cumberbatch running around New York in full costume. However, some eagle-eyed fans have also spotted Mads Mikkelsen shooting a scene as the main villain in the upcoming Marvel flick! But is the Hannibal star playing Dormammu?
The Twitter fan account Cumberbatch Lives shared the photos of Mikkelsen showing the actor wearing strange face prosthetics that made his eyes appear burned out. Although there is some amazing work done on Mikkelsen’s face, he appears to be wearing just a simple costume that is very different from Cumberbatch’s and Chiwetel Ejiofor’s own. The Clash of the Titans star also has a female companion who looks like she is wearing similar clothes and makeup.

So which villain will Mikkelsen portray in Doctor Strange? New speculations have point to the possibility that the actor is playing a student of Tilda Swinton’s Ancient One who becomes possessed by Dormammu. Fans are pointing to Mikkelsen’s makeup, which makes his eyes appear burned out as a possible result of the villain’s possession.
