The first ethical concept I noticed in the clip is ethics of care. After the patient passes away the narrator, who I conclude to be the mother, is informed that she may take as long as she needs and the nurses take actions to comfort her given the situation such as keeping the patients undergarments on. The nurses are respecting the mother’s wishes in regards to the scenario in order to produce the most good in reference to her.

For example, at one point in the clip a nurse advises the mother that she may stay but that as a mother, if it were her child she would not want to be present for what is about to happen.
One of the above ethical concepts that I can apply to my life is autonomy. At the end of my grandfather’s life he expressed his autonomy by electing to have a DNR/DNI order. In light of his conditions and circumstances he believed that it was in his best interest not to be resuscitated or intubated as he would likely never come off of the machines.
Throughout the course of this class I have been introduced to multiple ideas and concepts that I have been able to learn from and think about ways in which I wish to apply them to my life in order to make me a better person, EMT, and future health care professional. I strongly believe that I practice this concept but I also feel that there is always room for improvement and aiming to do great in the future.
