I Am Too Later-Personal Narrative

Great Essays
When I am about to drive home after my shift, I examine my face in the rear-view mirror. If I only knew how to change, to make me a protagonist again. The fresh air is compromised by the drizzle, the wine feels acidic in my throat, and instead of bringing haze, it demands honesty: I can still get drunk on two sips, my hair is about to melt into clammy dreadlocks, I cannot wear any clothes that would show the shape of my body, and I am fed up with all of this. I search my bag, it is sewn of two pieces of carpet, a hippie remnant I bought at a flea market because I thought Neele or Rainer would like it. Better to Be Ahead I have been doing the same routine for the last 12 years now, wake up at the crack of dawn, rush to get myself ready and try to look at least a little presentable. I’d get to school and have to listen to the teachers lecture us about how we aren’t going anywhere in life and have to put up with immature kids who just want to mess around at school all day. I put up with all of this all because I want a good education and to be able to make my family proud. “What are you going to College for?” “Are you going to College?”…

The concept of a journey can be used metaphorically as a direct link to a character’s inner search to find his own identity or a search to find a new identity; it provides an opportunity for a character to see himself from a different perspective, rather than his own. Some characters remain stagnant and others become dynamic.…
