Christian Obando Reaction Paper

#FindWhatMovesYou is the motto that Mr. Christian Obando, Coordinator of Sport Clubs, within Campus Rec for Florida State abides by as he interacts with his diverse student body. The first day that I shadowed Mr. Obando, he had a very relaxed, confident, and positive demeanor that quickly made me realize the leadership persona that his peers seen in him. He was very interactive with me as we talked about his role in Campus Rec. Christian walked me through a day in the life of a Coordinator for sport clubs and explained the intricacies of the organization. “Challenge & Support” was a major theme within our discussion because Christian emphasized the importance of Student Affairs and their role to diversify and maintain students’ interests. The willingness and drive to help students is what he also likes. Personally, I can attest that Student Affairs have opened my eyes to different professionals I would have never noticed that could help me in all aspects of my college journey. Challenge & support focuses on challenging the student and supporting them throughout the journey. Christian uses this skill greatly as he is always open to talking with students who approach him in needing of help. He even helped me when I approached him with a personal situation of mine regarding a student that I’m tutoring. He gave me advice, challenged me to essentially focus on how to politically handle a seemingly uninterested student into getting interested and to get him to start thinking critically about his future and what he wants to get out of our tutoring sessions and life in general; support in the other hand is when he showed interests in having a little free time in hearing the outcome of how this situation gets
