According to the “Twelve Inconvenient Truths about American Higher Education”, in 2008, there were 17 million college graduate students who worked and positioned in places where college education is not even required (Richard Vedder). Surprisingly, in 2012, 1 in 3 college graduates had a job that required a high school diploma or less than that. In contrast, “more than 16,000 parking lot attendants, 83,000 bartenders, 115,000 janitors and 15% of taxi drivers have bachelor 's degrees”( Richard Vedder), which means that people with higher education are no longer work based on their educational level. Therefore, most college students want to work right after their graduation, but the most important question is that are the student well prepared to take positions in any work environment? Before students start searching for a job, they must be taught how to plan for a carrier, and how to improve their working skills which regrettably cannot be found in college education. In college, students usually don’t learn “essential skills such as money management, basic contracting work and home repair, tax preparation and filing, regulations, and other necessary information about owning, operating, and servicing motor vehicles, job hunting, cooking, cleaning, being an intelligent consumer, handling encounters with the police, to name but a few, almost are completely absent.”(Soling, Cevin). College better be a place where students can learn much more skills through the interaction of their study and their future work, which incredibly going to enhance their academic knowledge, personal development, and professional preparation and performance.
