Adults can do many things to help prevent SIDS such as using a mattress that's firm, flat, and water-resistant and in good condition and always placing your baby on their back to sleep. Adults should also place babies in the "feet to foot" position (feet touching the end of the cot, moses basket, or pram). Babies whose heads are covered with bedding are at an increased risk of SIDS. Mothers should also try and breastfeed their baby if they can. Adults should also keep the baby’s head uncovered and their blanket should be tucked in no higher than their shoulders.
