According to “Is It Harder to Raise Boys or Girls” by Paula Spencer, Spencer argues that boys are harder to raise. Spencer believes that boys are harder to raise when it comes to discipline, physical safety, communication, and school but that girls are harder to raise when it comes to self-esteem. When Spencer is raising her four children she believes that “I spend more time and energy on my one boy than on my three girls”. When it comes to discipline boys don 't listen as well as girls because boys have difficulty hearing from birth. Thus, girls respond better to discipline when a parent is verbally telling them and boys need more of a physical approach such as being put in time out. Most people I think would agree that boys are more risk takers than girls. Experts say that boys are more typically rambunctious and aggressive. “Many parents find they have to keep a closer eye on what a son is getting into”. This may be not be a bad thing though because when kids explore they are building their character, self-confidence, and resilience. Since boys are naturally daredevils they usually need help slowing down while girls need help to be more of a risk taker.
