I think it’s not cool to use PEDs in sports. Even though it has been shown that taking these drugs improves performance. I remember an old Gatorade commercial where it talks about how Gatorade originated with the Florida Gator football team. Toward the end the narrator says” those boys drank that stuff and they became a second-half team.” Gatorade helps with endurance but it’s not a drug. It replaces fluids and electrolytes during physical activity. It’s legal. It doesn’t make you bigger, stronger, or faster. I can personally attest to it. Taking PEDs illegally presents an unethical situation. I can see why a pro athlete would use PED’s. Professional sports is a lucrative business. Players not only receive huge contracts but even more money based on performance. That is a powerful incentive to find an advantage. Nobody likes anyone having an unfair advantage I would be very upset if I lost a competition and found out someone had used something illegal to make themselves better physically. I don’t see a real advantage to take something that in the short term improves performance but causes so many physical ailments in the long term. My strongest argument against PEDs are that they are abuse by young people. Even at the high school level, steroids are being used illegally by athletes. Pressure to perform in order to get a scholarship, and make it to the pros’ or being influenced by coaches and professional athletes is a strong
