Sergey Brin and Larry Page founded the company Google Incorporated in 1998. When they met at Stanford University in 1995, the two had a common dream in finding creative ways to organize large datasets. It all started with technology called PageRank. This program allowed the two to check the relevancy of a website on the internet. This idea became their basis for their proprietary search engine technology. The formal incorporation took place on September 4, 1998 in Menlo Park, California. They used a friend’s garage to incorporate the company. Their mission became focused on organizing the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful (Google Corporation, 2016). The Google search engine has become so popular and successful over the years and attracted many loyal followers. Other Internet search engines have attempted to overtake Google but currently cannot compare to their technology. What started out as a research project by two students, ending up taking the world by storm.
