We are a fast moving society. We have newly developed technology and science findings than ever before. With such new discoveries, the consideration of faith can act as a barrier for finding more. Taking the time to put attention towards faith can slow society down. If we do take faith in consideration it can decrease science and technology advancements, hinder diplomacy issues, and cause lack of moral and ethic thinking while making decisions.
As we grow as a society technology advances with us. In the Dalai Lama’s “Ethics and the New Genetics”, he states, “ I believe that at heart the challenge we face is really a question of what choices we make in the face of the growing options that science and technology provide us” (135). As technology and science grow, we grow as well. If faith is put into thought for the certain technology advancements it could put us behind in technology as well as a society. If faith played a role in determining what scientist can or cannot research/study it could cause a lack of new findings and put us behind as a society. Without these new findings, we would not be the modern society we are today. One finding we might now have is the studying of genetics. Studying genetics is a newly discovered science improvement; it involves examining each gene and learning the function of the gene. This newly discovered improvement helps us better understand how a disease works. The Dalai Lama says there is no problem with genetic studying, but he worries…
