Some people begin a debate when is comes to the thought of what a church is. Is it a building? Or is it the people, that create the church? There are many perspectives on this topic. Here is my view on this topic. Throughout my whole life, I have been taught that the “church” was not the building. It was the people inside the building. Some people may state scripture and say that it is the building that one is in, such as Matthew 16:13-20. Here it states that Jesus asked his disciples who people thought he was. Some thought a prophet. Then Christ asked Simon Peter and he responded saying, “You are the Messiah, the son of the living God.” A little later on Jesus says that on this rock I (Jesus) will build my church. People are what create a church. Without people, it is just a building. In the bible it states, where to or more are gathered, there I am also. It does not say that where the building stands, I am there too. We create the church which means church can be even in the middle of the field. What is the purpose of the church? So we can praise and worship among other believers and receive encouragement as well from them.…
