Mostly every person has been through people tell them life lessons in their life. Most parents do this to help their daughter or son to function in life. Also parents would also to tell their children that one will never know everything in the world, just like in the Essay “Live Right and Find Happiness”. In Dave Barry’s anecdote “Live Right and Find Happiness” is a high level comedy that uses Sarcasm and Hyperbole to reveal a Universal truth about how parents will want to teach their children life lessons so the children can get by in life.

In the Essay “Live Right and find Happiness”, has plenty of Hyperbole in it. For example, in the middle the Essay, Barry says, “Don’t bully and don’t hit people, unless they are bullying you, in which case go ahead and belt them” ( 2/4 Barry). This quote contains Hyperbole, because Barry is using extreme exaggeration to say that if a person would get bullied you should stand up for yourself and beat the bully up if he tries to bully one again. The Universal truth is about teaching lessons to children, because in the Essay, Dave Barry tell’s some life lessons that he has learned over the 60 years he has been on the planet to his Grandson. The level of the Essay is high comedy. The Essay is high comedy, because it requires thinking to get the comedic jokes and statements, and makes one want to grin and chuckle to them. Finally, the Authors use of humor was effective, because the Author used the comedic elements Sarcasm and Hyperbole in an outstanding way.
