Is Hunting Good or Bad for the Environment?
Did you know there are 1.23 million car to deer collisions each year in the United States? That brings up the question of; is hunting good or bad for the environment. By examining statistics of the deer population, diseased deer, and where the money comes from to improve animal habitats, it's clear that hunting deer is good for the environment. Looking at the deer population, millions of deer are shot each year by hunters. Sick deer need to be removed from the environment because they can spread diseases.
How most of the money to improve wild animals habitat comes from hunting licenses. First, I will start with how hunters control the deer population.

Imagine if those 6 million deer were still running around to be hit by cars! If you don't like animals dying, then it's better for someone that enjoys it than the deer to die in front of your and your children's eyes while driving. All these collisions add up to over 200 deaths and 4 billions dollars in damage each year ("Car and Deer Collisions Cause 200 Deaths, Cost $4 Billion a Year"). Just imagine all those statistics doubling from no hunting. Next I will tell you about diseased deer.
Did you know that Lymes disease that causes over 300,000 people in the US to be affected each year.("Lyme Disease: Introduction to Symptoms, Diagnosis and Treatment") Lyme disease is spread by deer ticks, and deer ticks stick to deer. Now that there are more deer, the more they are moving these ticks. So, these deer might come to your house in a city because one could feed them and now one might have ticks with Lymes Disease in your backyard. Now one might say well if you shoot and eat deer that might have lymes disease then you're placing yourself in risk. Well no, Lyme's Disease is only spread by tick bites, and if one would eat the raw meat from the deer. So, if you cook the meat thoroughly
