The main one that is being discussed, is Tom keeping a piece of important information to himself, that Jim was freed by his owner, Miss Watson. It is known that Jim was of course a slave, but his owner wrote in her will that Jim was to be freed whenever she was no longer living. Tom found out about this, and still kept it to himself. However, Tom wasn’t trying to be cruel, he just was not thinking straight. He saw the fun in it; rather than the seriousness because he was still trying to help Huck break Jim out. Tom does not realize that he, Jim, and Huck could be in mortal danger if they are not careful when they bust their captured friend out. Due to this ignorance that Tom portrayed, it ended up in all three of the boys getting physically hurt. As mentioned in chapter 41, their attempt to escape did not go as planned because they attracted attention while Tom made a noise going over the fence; causing the farmers to shoot at them and wound Tom. This was just one of the examples that shows Tom is just being a normal thirteen year old boy that wants to experience the adventure instead of thinking through things.
