Is Homework Beneficial? Yes! Homework has been a continuous piece of student’s lives for almost 1000 years (Hays). It has become a part of students’ lives to this day. Whether in kindergarten, elementary, middle school, high school, or college, students receive homework. In the United States, varying students are assigned homework that is beneficial to them in the long run. The benefits of homework are innumerable; it prepares students for the future and allows them to work on their communication and time management skills. Now, how exactly does homework benefit students in the area of communication skills? Well, believe it or not, it helps with many aspects. The first place results are seen is with family members. Family members are a great resource in order to get help with said homework, and doing so allows students to grow even stronger relationships; whether it is a mother or father, sister or brother, or even family pets. “Homework is a bridge that joins schools and parents. From the school’s perspective there is the opportunity to monitor students ' independent progress. For parents there is the potential to gain a greater appreciation of education and to express positive attitudes towards their children’s achievement.” (Goldstein 2015). Something as simple as saying a speech to a pet cat or pet dog has its benefits as well; such as the ability to talk to an audience.
