In the article “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” Carr has this idea that the internet is making us stupid and it would be hard to create a positive social structure about the internet. In the article “Is The Internet Making You Smarter?”, Shirky says, “The case for digitally-driven stupidity assumes we’ll fail to integrate digital freedoms into society as well as we integrate literacy.” By this Shirky is trying to say that today the internet is filled with all this information that may or may not be accurate. This quote is important because it focuses on the idea of the digital freedoms and it helps tell the reader we are only getting stupid with the internet because people don’t know how to use it properly. It wasn’t until recently that people started to notice these flaws about the internet so they began to categorize what was reliable and what wasn’t. So Shirky is saying that if we continue to do this and make the internet a more organized place and more reliable that it would help with the negative outlook that it is getting by
